I am fairly new to citrix and have a problem !
We are using Winframe 1.8 so the old windows 3.11 type interface.
One of the users tried to be clever and install a program during their session. Needless to say it doesnt work but I need to take it off so I cn install it properly on the server.
How do I do this as there is no 'add/remove programs' option and nor does the program itself have an 'uninstall' feature. the program in question is an ms access utility called 'snapshot viewer' which creates lite version of reports.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Memory is failing me on removing an application in an NT 3.51 environment (Thats really what Winframe mimics... (cause thats what its based on) not Windows 3.11) But, if a user installed it during his/her session, then it should only be "installed" for that session. Did the user have Administrator Privlages?

As for installing the Application...
You install it on the server as any other app, but, before you install it, Open a DOS window, and, at the prompt, type CHANGE USER INSTALL and press ENTER. This puts the Citrix Server in Install Mode. Install the App, and, when you are finished, go back to the DOS window and, at the prompt, type CHANGE USER EXECUTE - that takes the Server out of install mode and puts it back in EXECUTE mode.

FYI, Winframe doesn't mimic NT 3.51, it IS 3.51 with a modified kernel. It includes Citrix's Multiwin technology - the same technology that makes NT Terminal Services work. I think what NickA was saying is that the interface looks like Win3.11 :)

The registry on NT 3.51 is totally different to the NT 4 and 5 registries - but it's possible the installer wrote to it. The entries should be reasonably obvious. To get to it, choose File from the Program Manager menu, then Run, and type regedit.

The executable of this utility is called snapshot.exe, and there should be a file called snapshot.ocx. Apart from that, I'm not sure what this utility installs. Maybe you could search for anything in WINFRAME\System32 that has a matching date and time stamp. Note: If you're going to re-install for all users, this won't be necessary.

As MISAdmin says, you should then install the application by putting the server into install mode in the way described.

I believe this should work.

Good Luck!

thanks MISAdmin & Citrix engineer - you are right - I know its NT3.51 but looks just like Windows 3.11 interface (i.e. not very friendly !).
Ill give your suggestions a go and see how I get on.
