We're currently moving our Windows Terminal License server to a newly purchased server. The new Licensing server will have a completely different name as the old one.

Will we need to make any changes to Citrix that is currently using this? Thanks.

The licenses cant be used on a server with a different name, they need to be returned to mycitrix, checked in, and reallocated with the new server name.

Also the farm settings will need to be updated to reflect the new license server (it can be set individually per citrix server or via the entire farm)

Good luck
James

Hi James,

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, what I meant was the name of the Microsoft Terminal License server.

We're not going to move the Citrix licensing server.

Hi James,

Just so I don't confuse you, let me give you an example. Let's say we have:

ServerTS <--- has microsoft terminal license server role installed.

CitrixLS <-- has citrix licensing server installed

If we're relocating ServerTS to another server called ServerTS1, do we need to repoint CitrixLS to ServerTS1?

Thanks.

There should be nothign you need to do for the CitrixLS.
When a new terminal server licensing server is installe dit adds itself to AD, so other machines can discover it.

Sometimes this sdtops working, so machiens that rely on this TLicensing server have their registry hacked to point to the TS box.

Its worth checking out
to make sure that this doesnt apply to you and that all servers will discover the new / renamed server automatically.

Hi
In Windows 2003 you can check if your TS servers are pointed to a specific TS licensing server by going to Start - Administrative Tools - Terminal services configuration. If you click on Server settings to the left you can configure Discovery mode and specific TS licensing servers under Licens server discovery mode.

Hi scanjam,

So citrix doesn't point to a specific TS licensing server. Citrix simply looks in AD to determine what licensing server to use?

Thanks.

If the citrix servers have not been tampered with, the server should be using AD to discover the TS licensing server..

Regardless check out for more information with your queries..

Sorry about the last link, that was obviously compeltely irrelevant...

Cheers
