Has anyone come across the problem where you cannot logon onto a CITRIX server from a WindowsXP client unless you are a administrator of the WindowsXP client??

The problem lies with the permissions on the registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing.

If a user does not have full access to this key CITRIX Program Neighbhorhood cannot read it which means the CITRIX server cannot verify if the client has a valid TSCAL and will not allow the user to log onto the CITRIX server.

This problem does not occur, as far as we have researched so far, when you connect to the server by using a RDP client.

If there is a fix for this I would really appreciate some input. B-)

Awesome! Now I know why my xp machine was a pain. I recreated my profile to solve this prob, but I wanted to know what exactly caused it. Thanks!

Client Version 6.31.1051 looks like it overcomes this problem. But if you want to leave the client version as it is on your PC's change the permissions, for local USERS, on the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing to the same as that of POWER USERS. (That's what we did)

From CITRIX Support Forum....

Windows XP service pack 1 has changes the security values on that key for the users group. If you have deleted the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing key it will be created but not with all the original security causing problems with both the ICA and RDP client attempting to connect.

With the new security value we did find that we each user they would fail to read the license00x key and for each user a new one would be created.

Citrix has addressed that issue in the next release of the client.

B-)
