How do you get temporary Internet files to map to home directories instead of profiles?

We have users that are complaining about being slow everytime they log on. I look at their profiles and they are very large, some up to 8 megs!! =O

I noticed that they have a bunch of "cached" files from their SAP directory as well.

Any ideas?

You can do this in 3 ways;

1) Via your system policy. There are some good IE templates on TheThin.net that you can download for your specific version, and simply modify the path to where you want the files stored. This is the best and simplest way.

2) Via Tools, Options, Temporary Internet Files Settings in Internet Explorer. You would need to modify the default profile, and modify or recreate your existing users profiles for this to be enforced, so it's a bit more work. If you're not using policies, it's really the only way I know of. I think there are 3rd-party apps, such as Appsense, which do this, but I have not used them.

3) Search the registry and modify the path in the Internet Explorer settings for the default user, each individual user and the machine. This is something I would avoid and never recommend, but if you don't mind the risk, feel free.

I hope this helps
