I have installed the ICA32 client on a windows NT 4 workstation. The installation ran fine but the user was unable to get the logon screen. So i removed the ICA client and then reinstalled it. After installing it we have to configure the citrix to use our farm of servers and it picks up all the server names ok .. but does not create the shortcut with the CITRIX PROGRAM NEIGHBOURHOOD

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Anna

Are you just having problems creating the shortcut on the Workstation Desktop....???

Are you creating a direct connection to a single Citrix server...???

Neither the shortcut or the original icon appears and we have a farm of servers there is about 6 in total... have you any ideas....

Thanks

Does the original icon appear in Citrix Program Neighbourhood on the workstation when you create a connection....???

Can you explain how you are setting up the connection...???

If you are just setting up a connection to a single server the procedure should be.....

Start Citrix Program Neighbourhood...
Select Custom ICA Connections...
Select Add ICA Connection...
You should get a "wizard" starting...
Select Local Area Network / click Next
Add a name for the connection/check correct protocol is being used and select server from drop down list / click Next
Click Next on Encryption screen (default should be ticked)
Click Next on user name/password/domain screen
Select your preferred windows size/colors / click Next
Click Next on application/working directory screen
Click Finish on ICA connection successfully set-up screen

You should now have a named Icon on the program neighbourhood screen...???

If you right click on this icon, you should have an option to create desktop shortcut....?????

Thanks for the response....

To set up our connection...
Start Citrix Program Neighbourhood
Find New Application Set
Run through the wizard entering ip address of servers in order for it to pick up the farm of servers which this user is able to logon to. This then puts in the Citrix Program Neighbourhood and other icon called jkfarm(our name for our group of servers
Double click on this icon and then it gives you another window which has an icon which links to the metaframe and gives the user a logon dialogue box to enter there password

except on this PC.. when you double click on jkfarm you do not receive this icon....

Any ideas.....

Ok, a couple more questions....!!!!

When u are at the Enter a description/Click below to add application set screen in the wizard....if you click on the down arrow on the add app set field, u should get a list of available "published" applications, u shouldn't need to add in the servers manually.....??? Does anything appear in this field if you click the down arrow...???

Also on this screen you should see a server location "button"...???...are the settings in this box the same as on a "working" pc...???

Finally, do you know if u are using DHCP or static IP addressing on the workstation PC....???...are the IP settings OK...??? Check subnet mask especially...

On the PC that isnt working .. i have just removed and reinstalled citrix....when i am prompted to enter a description.. when i dropped down the list i saw all six server names.... and i can choose them but the icon still doesn t appear....

I have checked the server settings on this and a 'working' pc and the details match....

Our network uses a dhcp to assign ip addresses... and i have removed the computer off the network and reset the network settings and tried all the settings again ... but to no avail...

Have you any mroe ideas... thanks again for all your assistance

Anna

Does the Icon appear on the Program Neighbourhood screen....???...or not at all....???

Have you tried creating the connection/icon by logging on as a local administrator on the Workstation...??? It could be an issue with the Users Profile on the workstation...??? Can you try this....???
