I installed a fresh install of Windows Advanced Server 2000(with Service Pack2) and Citrix Metaframe XP. Windows 2000 is installed as a member server of an active directory domain. all domain functionality under Windows seems ok. But when i installed Citrix Metaframe XP and set the domain administrator as citrix administrator i am unable to log in to Citrix Management console.
I get the message "failed to log on to farm"
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Citrix and when i set the citrix admin to be the local windows account(since this is not domain controller, local accounts still exist), i am able to access the management console. But adding new administrators or publishing new applications i am unable to see the domain under the drop down list. Only the local computer name appears there.

I don't know what could be causing this problem. I tried it several times on this machine already.

it's immediately after fresh install of windows 2000 and Citrix Xp. First i tried to set domain administrator(during installation of citrix) immediately after reboot, can not log in to CMC.

Reinstalled everything again. Now tried to use local administrator(during installation of citrix). Immediately after reboot i was able to login to CMC but adding new administrator window only shows local accounts. Drop down list does not show domain

I now tried making the citrix server as domain controller of a new child domain. Still no luck.

I am wondering that maybe Citrix can not be installed under Windows 2000 advanced if your Parent domain is just using Windows 2000 server(standard)?
Also the Windows 2000 advanced installation CD came from Microsoft SELECT. Could that make a difference?

The server is a Pentium III 800 Mhz with around 500MB RAM. 10GB HD space.

This should work. Is the Citrix server a member of the domain? By this I mean has the computer itself got an account in the domain? Check that you can browse the domain in My Network Places.

If the Citrix server is in its own child domain, check the trust relationships.

As a routine thing, check all DNS settings carefully.

Is there anything in the Event log that suggests a communications issue, such as RPC failures?

I hope this helps

yes.
Windows can access the domain ok.
no event viewer error messages
under child domain trust relationships seem ok

I tried installing citrix under member server(w2k advanced) in our office for testing and it worked.

This error only happens on client site.
I'm puzzled as to what is causing this error.
I searched the citrix knowledge base and it seems a similar error has been known but under Citrix 1.8/NT Terminal Server and using IMS. I even tried following the suggestion there(editing registry) adn still nothing.

My last option is to try to reinstall active directory but i don't really want to do that as it will bring down their entire network of around 100 users.
