Citrix Apps crash in Remote Desktop

We have one application that runs in Citrix, that the desktop is actually controlled by remote desktop.

We were having thousands of entries on our domain controllers caused by the ctx_smauser account. I talked with a Citrix admin, who suggested we just change the application to local system account. That cleared up all the authentication errors on the DCs. However, now when you log into Remote Desktop start a Citrix application and then disconnect (not log off, this app runs under a special user account), it kills all the apps. We get a Virtual Driver 1031 error. If you log on locally, it works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

soulestream,
I'm still trying to determine how you are providing this application to your end-users.

You say that you connect to the server desktop using RDP but then you launch Citrix?????....

Or do you just simply log into the Desktop Server using RDP and launch an .exe but then disconnect the console session? Then your users will use Citrix to connect to the published application?

I'm just trying to figure out how you are doing this. I have seen applications that need some user logged into the console for the application to work properly (Adobe Acrobat Distiller). But I'm not sure if that is what you are doing.

If you can provide more information...I would be happy to suggest a couple of things.

Thanks.

Second option,

It is a published app that runs from an exe that the user clicks on the desktop.

They RDP into the machine, launch the app, then disconnect.

The account is always logged in. The app is run as the same user logged in.

I think I have found the issue, as the user the published app run as is not the user logged on. This worked fine, however until I made the service change.

I am going to test running the app as the same user, once I get that user account proper permissions.

Thanks
