Hello all,
I've got a puzzling issue and am not sure of the fix...

NT 4.0 client attempts to access a published Citrix app and is getting the following error:

Network or connections problem preventing connection - retry in 30 seconds.

Citrix server is able to publish for similar clients and this client has worked for the past 4-5 months. If I do a net view to both the Citrix server and the FSMO server it is able to view shares. Tracert shows the correct hops. There isn't a firewall preveting access.

I'm thinking that because it is a 4.0 client trying to access a 2000 server that there must be something going on with the Terminal services lic. so I deactivated the server then reactivated it. But that did not resolve the issue. Um...does anyone know how I can remove a NT client from "taking up" one of the terminal licenses?

Hi,

Try the following on the client:-

run RegEdit from Start/Run
HKEY_Local_Machine
Software
Microsoft
MSLicensing
Store <-----Delete this key !!!!

Try again!

Cheers,
Carl.

I'm closer to solving this puzzle but am hoping someone can provide some light on this subject...

I purchased 5 terminal services lic. when I view the license on the TS it shows 0 available. I noticed that one of the license was being used by a client that is no longer on the network and the expiration is set to never. I don't recall when I installed the TS lic. the wizard asking how long each license should be good for...

Questions:
1) Is there a way to remove this client from using up the license without reinstalling the TS lic.?

2) Can I set the license to expire after 12 hours? (which would allow for "rotation")

Thanks in advance for your input...

have a look at microsoft article Q287687 regarding hotfixes for TS licensing. you will also need to contact the microsoft clearinghouse re the lost licenses.

armra,
Thanks for the reply - I'll give it whirl....here's hoping.
