Does anybody know anythignabout the CISSP certificatation. Im interested in sitting it or somethign likeit. Can anybody offer any advice as to the best security certification and as to whether it can be done in the UK.
I looked into this - but you need to have something like 3 years auditable security experience (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Now as I haven't got this yet I decided to the
web based course from these guys
It's more technical than the the CISSP which is more management/strategy based I think. You can do it in the UK though.
It's an excellent course and very in depth even the GIAC one - but there are many specialist courses/certifications you can take on Win security, IDS etc etc.
Let me know if you want to ask any opinions/swap notes - sounds like we're looking at the same career change
I am at this time doing the on-line GIAC (which CAN be done at live classes all over the world as well, and find it very well done. I have many years of sys admin experience on intel based systems, and the course covers unix and windows so it is expanding my knowledge evenly.
Go have a look, and feel free to ask me any questions you may have about the mechanics of the program.
CISSP is more management-based, but ISC2 also offers the new SSCP certification. While still less technical than GIAC, it only requires one year security experience. They are both very broad-based certifications.
