Ciscoworks 2000 Can't connect to ani server4.0

Hi

I have installed ciscoworks 2000 on a windows 2000 professionnal, Most of the module of ciscoworks are ok, but I have a probleme with Topology discovery, effectively when I launch it, there is a error:

Can't connect to ani server!!!!

Is it possible to implement ani server without a DNS, and how ?
If no, what is the DNS entry to redirect aniserver ?

If someone can help me

Is the ANI Server active? It should be but, please check: Server Configuration - Administration - Process Management - Process Status.

i was having a similar problem a few weeks ago, connecting to any of the campus manager functions.

is IPSec turned on on the server? if so, make sure ALL ports are open (CW2000 uses more ports than listed in the documentation) and make sure it can get out to the cisco hardware and such. this was my problem and i was able to get it fixed.

also, if the server is a compaq, you may have a problem. i talked with a cisco rep, who was seeing this problem very often with a specific kind of compaq server, as well as other compaqs. don't know what server he mentioned, but i do know that they haven't figured out why.
