Hello
I Am somewhat new to cisco router configurations and set up. I rececently purchased a 1720. I have an ethernet wic installed and of course it has the lan port. I upgraded to IOS 12.2 I use a cable modem to connect to the internet. The modem gets a DHCP lease but as long as the modem stays powered on it keeps the same address as if it were a static.
my questions are
1. Can I configure the 1720 as a DHCP client on the external WIC or must I have a static ip on the external interface. Currently my ISP will not have static address for us and we are not supposed to use a router for multiple connetions
2. also I Willuse a sonic wall pro 100 firewall on my network I have seen some configurations where the router is behind the firewall is that a beter way to go?
I was planning cable modem---into wan port LAN port into firewall--- firewall lan port to my switch is this way correct as well what are the pros and cons
3. If I use an second external WIC is it possible to configure that as a DMZ is it wise to do that off the router or shold it be done off the firewall?
