Hi, I have a Cisco 2800 running CME 3.4 with Catalyst 3550 switches. I need to know if I purchase Dell Powerconnect 62xx switches will they work with my current environment? If yes, what changes would I have to make and do you have any documentation?

Thank you

The IP Phone will work, but if the Dell switch does not do CDP, no voice vlan for you. The IP phone will default and use the native vlan for both data and voice.

I have a similar setup at home, the phones will fail to negotiate a voice vlan via CDP, then will use the default vlan for both data and voice. This works fine for my test enviroment.

If you are doing Cisco voice, i would definitely suggest using Cisco switches for production. Other benefits will come with it, like QOS.

Be aware that older phones, 7940, 7960 may not work since they have 'Cisco' power not the IEEE power that will be on the Dell swiotch.
