I have installed Cisco VT Advantage video desk top software on a PC running Windows XP Pro. I can not get the pc to recognize the link between the ip phone and the pc. Something (an appplication or configuration setting on the PC is blocking the TCP commuication etween the phone and the PC. It is not a firewall as I have checked that. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? I have tested the VT advantage application and camera with a different laptop to prove that the patch cable cord, port and wall jack all work correctly. So, I have narrowed it down to something on this one PC. The application runs fine on everyone elses's pc setup.

I had the same problem with a PC of mine. I spent ages trying to fix it. In the end i rebuilt the PC and all work OK.

Jonks,

Actually, I solved the problem by revisiting the patch cable. We only testedone end of the patch cable and assumed it was good. Once I replaced the entire cat 5e patch cable and discovered the original cable was kinked in several places, VT Advantage could see the IP Phone and function normally. In our case, it all came down to a faulty cable. Intuity
