I am trying to decide whether to purchase the Pix506e or the Symantec Firewall/VPN. Can someone tell me if the Cisco VPN client is provided with the 506e, or do I have to purchase it seperatly? Also, if anyone has experience with both products, your suggestions would be appreciated.

The Cisco software VPN client comes w/ the PIX if you get the 3DES license for it.

I personally don't trust symmantec with anything security wise. It always seems like they are the last ones getting their products up to date.

HI.

The Cisco pix is a good choice, it is fast, reliable and manageable, but you should remember that the pix does NOT have content filterring capabilities, so you'll need other devices in conjunction with the pix to do that (mail relay, proxy, etc...).

I don't know much about the Symantec device so I cannot comment about it.
