I successfully(i thought) installed the CISCO VPN CLIENT 3.1 from a CD. After rebooting my XP machine, there was no link to run the VPN IPSECDIALER nor was there an executable. I concluded that for some reason the install did not completely finish. So, when i tried to reinstall the software, the setup automatically tries to UNINSTALL the application and i get an error saying "Failed to locate the installation path for the application" and the uninstall aborts. Now I cannot uninstall or reinstall and i cannot execute the VPN IPSECDIALER either. I am stuck. Does anyone know how i can successfully uninstall this software without getting this error?

Thanks for any help.

Now that is a catch you are in!!!!!!

Delete the folder where the VPN was installed, in the registry delete all (most of them which you could find) the entries for Cisco Vpn and then do a reboot. Try to install after that and should not give any problem.

There is a document which specifically mentions this but I don't have it right now. So you can try the above procedure.

Cheers,
Rajesh

I believe this is more of an InstallShield Problem. I had this same problem as well. In windows 98, I went to the hidden folder "c:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information". I then browsed the folders in that directory and found the appropriate Setup.ini file that related to the Cisco VPN Client. I then deleted the whole directory and then successfully was able to install the VPN client. Hope someone else finds this useful.
