I'm trying to install a Cisco VPN client (tried the most recent BETA client and the client before that for Vista) and it keeps saying that the DNE requires a reboot first to free up locked resources and to run the install after rebooting. But with each reboot I keep getting this same message over and over. I haven't found any solutions via google... and ideas??

Cisco VPN Client Error 27848 on Vista

I ran into the same problem ("Error 27848: Deterministic Network Enhancer installation requires a reboot first, to free locked resources.") while trying to install the latest version (5.0.03.0530) of the Cisco VPN Client on a Vista machine from which I had just uninstalled a previous (5.0.01.xxxx) version.
After some frustration and digging in the registry I found that the old installation left a DLL ("dneinobj.dll") of the "Determinitic Network Enhancer" registered and that a simple unregistration of this DLL fixed the problem.
For me running the following command in the "system32" folder fixed the problem:
regsvr32 /u dneinobj.dll
