I am trying to connect to my company's pix vpn. I have at home a linksys router (befw11s4) When I connect to the vpn, I get a connection, but am unable to ping, ftp, terminal into anything. I do not see anything. When I click on the vpn client and look at the packets, I see that there are no packets being transfered. When I connect my computer on the other side of the router, it works fine. I can ping everything, etc. I have upgraded my firmware, enabled/disabled ipsec and still can't get it to work. Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

Talking to VPN experts I found out that it was a conflict with ip address. My home network was running a 192.168.1.x and so was work. I changed my ip scheme at home to 192.168.142.x and it is working fine. Just thought I would let everyone know

Hi-

Just wanted to be sure about what how you fixed it. By changing your 3rd octet to .142, which would put you in a different network, that seems to clear up your VPN issue? I would assume that theres more to this story, unless your VPN Concentrator or PIX doesn't like the fact that your home pc and LAN are using that 192.168.1.X range.. I'm alittle confused.

Yes That is all I did. I really don't understand it myself, but The only thing i did on my side was to change the 3rd oct. I will try to find out more information and then post it!

Gman

The reason why the third octet had to be changed was because the network was setup like this

192.168.1.x PIX ---- vpn tunnel---- Linkyss 192.168.1.x

Since it needs to route between the 2 networks they can't both be on the same network, 192.168.1.x Once one side is changed it is able to route between the two and it will work.

Gotcha, this couldn't work any other way and I see why!

Thank you!
