Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know what it takes to have TTY on Callmanager 4.1?
I would like to know what kind of requirements like; hardware, software and does it require some special phone?
Does anyone have experience on this, I heard in order for it to work it require QoS otherwise there are a lot of packet drops.
Thanks.

You need an FXS port registered and configured to the call manager and a TTY analog device (phone).
If you have call manager your should already have QoS configured on the network. There is no specific QoS for analog devices or TTY specific.

So, what's the different between getting a direct TTY service from the service provider and getting this and hooking it up to the callamanger?

I don't know that. Never dealt with TTY through a service provider. The extend of my TTY experience is installing and analog TTY device to a phone system.

Can you give me an example on what kind of phone you use for TTY with VoIP. The FXS port, does that goes in the gateway? Thanks.

The FXS port can be in the gateway as a module or a vg-224 which gives you 24 FXS ports.
I leave it up to the customer to choose a TTY device. They are not VoIP specific. They work as well with the call manager or any other manufacturer whether it it IPTEL or legacy PBX.

Thanks for the info, been a great help.
