Cisco Unity: Voice Messaging Stops After 30 Seconds

Voice Messaging Stops After 30 Seconds or when a caller only has 30 seconds in which to leave a voice-mail message. I have adjusted numerous settings and I thought that the default length is 300 seconds, but nothing is happening. Is there anything else I need to do or could it be related to the license installed (if so, how can I determine that)?

Thanks!

I ran into this a year or more ago. There was a Bug on this. Search Cisco.com for the Bug. I can't seem to find the fix on my PC for some reason.

What system are you using (ICSXXXX or some other server)? I've seen this bug on the ICS units. What version of Unity are you running (3.x, 4.x)?

Here's one bug I found on Cisco's bug toolkit that might fit your description, depending upon your setup:

CSCeb71687
Symptom:

Subscriber leaving messages are cut off approximately 50 seconds.
Conditions:

Unity 3.1(5) and customer is using MGCP gateway

Workaround:

The workaround is to make sure that the MGCP Gateway has the command "no mgcp timer receive-rtcp"

___

Post back and tell us what version of Unity software you're using...

That's the fix I was looking for. I had the problem on an ICS server, also.

Well I am running Unity 4.0(4), but this problem is happening between IP Phone to IP Phone and not touching anything in regards to my MGCP.

Is there anything I can check or disable that could be related to a bug for this problem?

Thanks

You open a there under "Can't hear Greeting from PSTN to IP Phone, but I can leave a Message" is this relate to the problem you describe there or were you able to fix that issue.

I'm trying to see the connection to point you to a fix

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!

Oh no, this is seperate from the issue I am having, but I will reponse to that post directly with an update.

thx

Is it always 30 seconds (I mean, exactly, or is it around 30 seconds - sometimes 20, sometimes 40 seconds)?...I'm thinking maybe something to do with comfort noise or silence detection...

It is exactly 29 seconds. I know that because I recieve the wav format via Exchange and it plays for only 29 seconds. At the same time it disconnects when people are leaving a VM longer than 30 seconds.

You know, I know there was some sort of issue - not the ICS bug - with 30 second recordings...I just can't seem to locate it...it almost sounds like a demo system, the way it's cutting off like that...let me see what I can dig up.

Hey, can you open up your license file and see if this line is in there? Go to your Tools Depot (should be on the desktop), click on Administration Tools, then double click License Info Viewer; it will pull up what you're registered for.

There should be a line in there that says:

Message recording full length

To the right of it, it should say licensed, or unlicensed. If unlicensed, the default recording lenth is 30 seconds. I know it's a long shot, but it's worth checking.
