Do anyone know what type of adapter needed for the DB9 Console (normally it's a RJ45 connection) ?
I trying to connect using two cisco DB9 adapter and a roll-over cable with no avail.

Note: Switch Type is Cisco WS-C1900 & Catalyst 2100.

Any assistance would be appreicated.

it's a null modem cable. Somewhere here is a thread with the exact pinout. Seach on 1900. Cisco has the same info on their site, it's just a bit harder to find.

RJ45 staight ribbon cable but cat5 straight through will work. 2 RJ45 to DB9 adapters.

I used Red shells to make sure I did not mistake this cable any other. This also works on 3com serial interfaces and several other types of network equipment.

Now, if you are clever, you will look the RS232 standard and see what we did here. One of the most important things is pins 2 and 3 which are the Tx and Rx. You need to twist them so it's Tx-Rx and Rx to Tx. Plus there DTR (data terminal ready) that needs to be set and CTS (clear to send)
