Having a problem with SIP trunking on this unit? It was suggested to use this model for SIP trunking by the cisco support people and after playing with settings for a while, I eliminated the missed calls that were happening. Now I'm trying to close the port forwarding on port 5060 (SIP registration), so as to eliminate the hacker traffic. When I try to close the port, I don't get any calls through?? I don't know if I have to reboot the Cisco unit to allow the traffic through or what's going on. Previously, the phone system would register with the SIP provider, no problem and calls could be made and received. It was only in an attempt to correct the missed calls that port forwarding was put in place to see if it would correct the problem. It was later corrected with other changes made on both the phone system and on the router EEE and flow control were turned off, although I don't know if that's why traffic doesn't come through at all once 5060 is not forwarded? Ideas? Comments? Thanks!

Im no SIP expert but you need to read up on port 5060. As seen here: 5060, to my understanding is the main signalling port for Voip communications. You have to have that open to the Voip provider to have a working Voip system.

When you say you want to close out 5060 to eliminate hacker traffic, what do you mean or what are you referencing?
