hi, i got a 3640 router and needing to reset it back to manufacture settings.

i'd tried the " no service password-recovery" and "config-register 0x2142" but no luck.

it keep showing error message: %error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg(time out)

help!

are you able to log into the router? or does it have a username/password that you cant get to?

if your in the router and are concerned about that log message...

write erase

will blank the router...

and if that log message still remains
i believe
no service config

will stop it from trying to downlaod a config through tftp.

how can reset it to the manufacture settings?

write erase

will delete all config from the router and restore it to factory settings for that specific IOS.

write erase... reload.
