I am in of practice software. I have heard that there are companies out there that have practice sortware that simulate a router.

I don't feel like spending $3000 on a router just to play around on it.

Any help would be enjoyed.

It is called simrouter. Just do a search for that term on a search engine. Something will show up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Two router simulations are available in the
market. Router sim for CCNA or CCNP...?? the take is..
One is from Sybex and another from routersim.
When I started on CCNP track, got it from Sybex CCNP ($199)
but it is nothing like real routers' (got three of 2500
series, on my own).
But the router sim works, have clear 3 tests, onto
my last CIT, hopefully within the next couple of weeks.
Have a good time with routers,
