Hi,

Kind of a generic question.... We have to plow through a several hundred megabyte text log file every day that our PIX generates. Does anyone know of a text viewer, cheap, or free, that can filter specific events in the logs, then dump to either another text file or screen perhaps? Just hoping to speed up the process a bit. We located a great text viewer that handles these large files, but would love to be able to search for specific events in these logs also. Sure would be grateful!

Thank you

Cygwin and then write a small shell script that filters what you want. The power of Linux/Unix on the WIndows desktop for free ;) Or you may be able to run some the Linux log tools under it. That I have not tried. Or run VMware and a Linux client.. then you have a real tool box to play with :)

I think Kiwi Syslog Daemon has some filtering capabilities, similar to Unix syslog. You could direct different types of messages to different logs, or take action based on them.

Thanks! I'll look into both your suggestions!
