Hi, I need some help.

I need to get into the Cisco PIX 520 firewall that i got. there is no documentation or paperwork. The username and password is lost.

I am able to hyperterminal into the PIX. I see the pix firewall version 6.2. but I cant login.

Is there a way to reset everything? I tried looking at the cisco pix website but that didnt help also.

any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Does it have a floppy drive or not? You will need to download some files from Cisco's web site depending on which one you have.

Here are the steps for password recovery WITHOUT floppy drive:
1. Get the appropriate password image file from Cisco
2. Place this file on a TFTP server (on your PC or another Cisco device).
3. Break into Monitor mode (reboot Pix and wait for prompt to hit BREAK or ESC key)
4. Configure the PIX in Monitor mode.
5. Plull in the file from the TFTP server.
6. Reboot your PIX firewall.

There is no actual password recovery on a Pix, but rather a password bypass. Once you have bypassed it, the passwords will zeroed out.

Here's the syntax you'll need once you are in the Monitor Mode:

monitor> interface {interface_number}
monitor> address interaface's_IP_adress
monitor> gateway router's_IP_address
monitor> server TFTP_server'sIP_address
monitor> file name_of_BIN_file
monitor> ping destination_IP_address
