We have a multi office enviornment using site to site vpn. One of our offices lost the internet. When we pulled the PIX out and put a standard linksys in we were able to access the internet. So I assume there is somthing wrong with the PIX. Do these things sometime just freak out? Is there anyway to reset the options or somthing on it to see if it was just a software issue with the router?

All hardware (especially in remotes offices) can freak out. Usually it's heat and/or age related.

However, since you just yanked it out and didn't connect to the console, there really isn't any telling of what actually happened.

Might want to hop onto the PIX forum on this site and talking specifics there.

I'm sorry. I looked around and couldn't find a PIX forum. I'm not that great with IT stuff I just am the closet we have I guess. I can put the PIX back in and log into the console but I have no idea what I'm looking for or anything.

Post a sh run from the pix, and as much of a detailed topology as you can. Or, ditch the PIX and get an ASA---what model PIX? They don't do nearly as much as their new generation firewalls, the ASA...Also, for future reference, here's the PIX forum...

and the ASA...

Looks like you've found the PIX forum...
