Hello,

Just starting studing for my CCNA and I have a Cisco 2950 switch to play with. Just wondering ( before I break it ) how would I go about backing the config up say to a tftp server. I am connected to the switch using a rollover cable. What type of config do I need to backup- just the startup-config?

Thanks

First you would need to establish a TFTP server on your network, you can find a free one for download on the net, just google it or head over to downloads.com. Then use the CLI commands as follows:

Switch#copy running-config tftp
then enter the ip of the tftp server
then enter the config name

Hope that helps

Or you can use the old standby "write net" to save the config also.
