Hi friends,
I need to monitor my switches in 40plus branches. All branches have 10 to 15 switches. Previously I used Cisco Network Analyser and some free tools to check health status and poll data . Now due to broad expansion plan we are migrating to redhat linux servers on all branches.I'm really not a linux geek, so please help me. Google is not doing any good in this search. So please help me asap
In case of emergency if it can send me mail it will be the best, since all networks are managed by system admins in particular branch who lacks knowledge in cisco it will be the most important thing for me to give remote support.

Nagios is something good to look at, and there is a free version. I would say it can be intensive to setup but there is plenty of good documentation out there.

Solarwinds is excellent, even better than Nagios, and it's not too expensive.

we have the same problem
we also use nagios cacti and prtg.

But: these are not for traps.
you should not poll for all counters because it's some work setting it up and uses alot of bandwidth.

doesn't solarwinds also poll?

what I, and you?, should have is a mgt tool who translates the mib traps and then creates an alert.
using prtg for my (only 60...) switches is nice, but lots of work to setup email/sms 'traps' (I use it also for temp. reading in my serverrooms/patchracks)
