Cisco Memory 2

I talked to a Cisco Sales Rep. a while ago about purchasing more memory and I was astounded at the prices Cisco charges for these upgrades. $1500 per memory module in some cases. I consulted with the SmartNet Rep. and he told me we could buy memory from other places that would not void our warranties/SmartNet contract. He told me on the Cisco web site I'd find which of these companies were in agreement with Cisco. I've never found this page, but yet I still do not want to pay the insane prices Cisco charges for more memory.

Has anyone seen this page? Has anyone bought Cisco memory other places at a immense discount over Cisco? Anyone had problems returning routers/switches with non-Cisco memory?

Any info would be appreciated.

If I remember right, Kingston has a page claiming to be "Cisco Certified".. I know many times the OEM memory for cisco is from Smartmemory which you can get in a varity of places. I have never run into troubles with something other then Cisco but the caveat is that I get Smart or Kingston... it is not the cheapest but it is cheaper the Cisco. In one network I worked on, we split the difference.. the 7500 core routers got Cisco memory but everything else got kingston at over a 50% savings.

I have a couple of routers that needed upgrade. I had the same problem with the Cisco prices. I bought kingston 16M RAM for an 3600 for around $50 and it works great.
I found memory even cheaper than that by searching the net but I sugest you should stick at least to a brand name.
