I'm told that these have to have a controller, but they can be made standalone. Does anyone know how to do this? I've got an 1140 and an older one. The older one, when I used a wireless sniffer it didn't detect a broadcast and when I log into the console, lines and line keep rolling by. It's like it's looking for instructions. My guess is that it's looking for the controller. I can get to enable mode, but we do not know the password, so that's another thing. Since there is no reset buttton, how do I reset it so that the password is erased?

Thx for any help

Download the appropriate IOS from Cisco.

Follow instructions at this link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html

You'll find Lightweight to Autonomous instructions about half way down.
