Cisco IP Communicator over Microsoft VPN

Hello -
I am trying to get my recently installed Cisco IP Communicator to talk over a Microsoft VPN connection. When I am inside my network the communicator works great. However once I leave I am unable to use it. Well that is not all true. I can dial a number from a VPN connection and it rings however there is no voice? Has anyone experienced this?

Whats probably happening is that the IP comm software is binding to the wrong IP.. You need to bind it to the IP that the PPTP adapter is receiving.

I'm not up on Cisco kit, but to me it sounds like the RTP (voice) traffic is being blocked at the firewall.

I'll assume SIP

SIP tends to be on port 5060 / 5062, and will handle set up, tear down etc of the call.

However the RTP could be on any port, often 3000+ or 6000+ and will vary dependant on number of trunks in use.

I'd find out what RTP ports your system uses and make sure the RANGE is open to the outside world.
