Hiho

Could someone help me to find good "cheap" Flash Cards for Cisco 6500 SUP 2 (PCMCIA) and Sup 720 (CF) instead of the cisco forwarded cards ?

What are the characteristics of them ? Can i write them in my pcmcia notebook card reader ? Could i use them in the 6500er and in cisco routers ?

Which cards would you prefer ?

Many Thanks for answers !!

Hi,

I've tried off the shelf cards in a couple of 6000 sup and it didn't like any of them. I decided not to risk it any more (the card is used as a backup boot source) and got the 24Mb cards from Cisco.

Strangely enough, I've had no problems at all with those.

Hope this helps.

These are liner flash cards and as far as I know they are not readable or writable in the laptop PCMCIA slot. I know there has been a spotty effort to write a driver to read these but I have not followed it very closely.

I've bought my last several cards off ebay for 20-40 bucks a pop. I see a few today at 25 bucks for 16 meg. All brands have worked well, the last one weas a "value series 200" flash card, some knockoff which worked great in two 6509s to migrate to new code.

The following list all use the same card

ATM Switch/Processor for LightStream 1010 and Catalyst 5000/5500
Multiservice Switch Route Processor for LightStream 1010

Catalyst 8500 Switch Route Processor (SRP)

Cisco 6400 Universal Access Concentrator

Cisco 7000 Route Switch Processor (RSP)

Cisco 7500 Series Route Switch Processors (RSP 2, RSP 4, RSP 8)

AS5800 Dial Shelf Controller

Catalyst 5000/5500 Supervisor III Module

Catalyst 6000/6500 Supervisor Engine I

Cisco 7100 Series Routers

Cisco uBR7100 Series Routers

Cisco 7200 Series Network Processing Engine

I have a16MB Intel Value Series 200 linear flash card I bought on eBay. I was hoping to use it on my 1601-R router, but it doesn't work.

If you would be interested in buying this flash, please post your email address and I will contact you.
