Interviewing for network position. Currently Cisco certified but job site uses Lucent Definity switches... Are the IOS's similar, where can I find info on Lucent's IOS....
Are you talking apples and oranges here? Lucent Definity is a PBX (telehone switch). Completely different animal obviously than a Cisco data switch, etc.
Definity is actually pretty easy to learn. It has a very user friendly interface, compared to other PBX's out there.. I've been working with Definity on converged solutions for the last few years. Just tinkering with them gains you alot of experience. Tinkering is the best way to learn Definity, because their documentation is very lacking..
I must give you the first level of advice though. Its definately a different ballgame and you will be clueless about anything unless you have quite a bit of voice experience.
Yeah the definity switch is not even close to a cisco switch. It has a number of different interfaces depending on the version and is either running on a UNIX or LINUX flavor depending on the release. Cisco knowledge won't really help you with it at all. That being said if you have telephony expirience it should be easy to pick up. There is an Avaya Definity forum here on Tek-Tips that can help you start learning about the Definity switch.
