Hi,

Approx 1 year ago, I made the transition from Software development into Network Administration. Im looking at gaining some certifications, and think that Cisco certification will be of great help.

Id prefer to setup a hardware based lab as opposed to using software. Can anyon someone please tell me what kit Id need to buy in order to setup a test lab to aid me in my studies.

Regards.

scm7kag,
Go to Ebay
Go to - Home > All Categories > Computers & Networking > Networking > Routers, Wired > Cisco

Do a search on CCNA, lab or labs and you will find some complete packages with routers, switches, cables, rack "ears" etc.

For CCNA - 2 Cisco 2501 routers, a Cisco 2502 router and 2 Cisco CAT 1900 switches should give you all the hardware you need.

Read some of the Ebay lab packages so you understand how much RAM and FLASH you need - you are looking for 16/16 on a 2500 router. Also make sure you are getting a latest, greatest version of the IOS on the routers.

You also might want to go to Cisco Press and check out the CCNA Router Sim made by Boson for them - it is GREAT for a sim.

has always had a good sim for CCNA also.
