I could pick up a Cisco 5513 switch with supII IOS 5.5 also with ATM-0C3 and 48 10base modules for $4,500 dollars. The switch does have 1 power supply and in mint condition. Is this a good deal or what? Thanks for advice

well.. the supII and chassis is worth roughly 2K.. perhaps a bit more depending on the exact day..

the ATM is worth a pretty penny assuming you are shopping for it.. if not, it's a expensive boat anchor..

The 10 half ports are almost worthless.. about 200 a card or so.

If you hit ebay.. the average Cat 5000 chassis with a sup 1 and some flavor of 10/100 card sells for around 1500 bucks.. more or less depending on exact config. You can search on sold items which is a help in trying to see the pattern to what something *might* be worth

Thanks mike on your opinion I decided to pass.

You trying to build a lab? If so, keep in mind that right now there is a perception that one HAS to have a C5000 in order to get trained.. not so.. it's a myth. All you need is a SET based switch and a router that can do 100Mbps ( not the new 1700 series tho').. A 4500 with fastether, 2620, 2621 etc.. With the switch and the router, you can do the *router on a stick* routine for working out trunking and vlans. In order for the Cat5000 to be useful for any serious lab work, you really, really need the RSM and that my friend is bucks. The option ( that I did) is to rent time at one of the virtual labs with the Cat and RSM. That way you can work with the commands for modules and the like.

Just my opinion.. your milage WILL vary ;-)

Thanks mike for the extra info. I know this cisco trainer upgrading his equipment wanted to get rid of few things. The price is about average but i decided to purchase a 3640 so i could emulate voice & ATM labs with my 3620 router. I agree RSM too pricey.

Yeah.. but think about it.. with the RSM, you'd be the "alpha-geek".. "
the man"
