Please bring happiness to my life.
How can you pick a call up from another phone if the call is ringing as part of a Line Group?
Calls to individual exts pick up fine. However it seems that if a phone ext is part of a Line group then diverts and pick ups groups set on that ext don't influence the call when its ringing as part of the Line Group and the call only follows the group rules ie ring "a" then "b" then "c"
The answer is to either a) have Line Group calls ring on a different Ring Tone so people can differentiate between the type of incoming call and know they have to wait for the Group Line call to get to their phone or b)- the desired solution- which is to find a way for them to pick a Line Group call up so they don't have to wait for the call to arrive at their phone.
Since we have upgraded from 4.0 to 4.2 the nearest we can get to this set up is to forward a Line Group call on no answer to a specified ext and once the Line Group call leaves it's group call "influence" to go to this named ext then it can be picked up from another phone in the same pick up group.
The user's who have migrated from their former PBX are pulling their hair out as they used to be able to pick up any ringing call weather it was to a ext or ringing as part of a group. Could it be a softkey button that is needed to be added to the phone template??
I can't belive that this operation cannot be done. I can't find out how to do it. We have been rolling this out now for over a year and it's getting to be a a real annoyance for our customers.
Please help I will be ETERNALLY grateful.

By the way all the vast majority of phones are the single line 7912.

You're right. Same issue here. This seems to be a sorepoint with CallManager 4. I don't know if they have this "fixed" with 5.

4.2 has a new feature that supports logging in and out of a hunt group.

If you are not there and not logged in your phone does not receive call from that hunt group.

Perhaps that's an answer to your issue since you are already at version 4.2

Yes it does and we use it but still when staff are logged in we can't tell if the call that needs to be picked up is ringing on the ext or as part of a group. I've posted another thread to see if anyone knows how to change the ring tone a group rings on. This would helps also.
