We are looking at installing and configuring a Cisco Call Manager lab PBX. I'm very familiar with Nortel but Cisco not so much. I am trying to gather a list of the basic hardware I would require to accomplish this. I want to have both a Windows based Call Manager (4.x) and Linux based Call Manager (5.x) for testing in addition to several IP phones (that I will connect to the Call Manager I'm working on). I would also like to interface the Call Manager with the PSTN via an analog trunk port so the IP phones can place and receive calls.
As I mentioned this is a lab PBX so costs are a concern for us. This system will never be used in a live environment to expensive redundant servers, routers, etc. will hopefully be unnecessary.
From my understanding the Call Manager software could be purchased from somewhere and loaded on a non-Cisco server. Is this correct? If so I'm only left with the issue of the IP phones (I presume they are PoE only?) and the PSTN interface.
Any suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated.
