IS-IT--Management
Hi Guys!
First, i'm an IT manager, used to be techie but not anymore, not for a few years!
I'm wondering if anyone would be kind enough to offer a few words of advice on a proposal that's been put forward?
Our NEW site will be deployed using Avaya equipment - exact equipment TBC. It will run Avaya equipment for Wifi, Core Switches, firewalls and telecoms/data but specific model types not yet decided.
When we go live, we are being asked to join a "parent" network and provide access to all our systems and we will be given access to theirs. The "parent" network will be all CISCO gear. Not sure if this is important but some of this traffic, actually most of it, will be for CCTV. For the WiFi we would also like to be able to roam between the two types of equipment (The two offices cross over WiFi range/boarders of each other).
Individual Firewall rules/politics aside, I'm trying to workout if there are any major incompatibility issues I need to be aware of. For example, I think I've discovered that Spanning Tree needs to be configured as MST on CISCO and MSTP on Avaya.
Are there other such issues that I need to be aware of?
I also appreciate that this could be a very wide ranging subject that could be dependent on many different factors. I'm not looking for deep technical responses (i think?) but more on the side of plain English.
Please be aware that i'm no longer a techie and haven't been for about 10 years so, be gentle!
Thank you again, for any advice you can offer!
