We have a Cisco Enterprise wireless system. We are using AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 AP's At one of our sirtes we get a large number of complaints that the connections are dropped. I am not getting any alarms from the WCS with regards to AP's disassociating from the controllers. has anyone else ran across this problem? We had a vendor come out and check for interference and there was none.

Got the same problem at a customer. I do not see any problem anywhere appearing on the WLC.
Also the ethernet ports of the AP's are clean.
The only thing I can imagine is that it is some sort of signal jam, but if you vendor says there aren't any I wonder what it can be.

I had my WLC already on different software levels, but still the problem persists.

We just found an issue today with release 5 and 6 code with APs dropping beacon transmission for 10 seconds here or there. We are setting up a test WLC on v7 right now as 4 and 7 apparently aren't affected. I didn't find the postings confirming this so I don't have a link to point to unfortunately.

This is the info of the AP's we are having trouble with:

Software Version 6.0.199.0
Boot Version 12.3.8.0

IOS Version 12.4(21a)JHB

Is this similar to your AP's?

I'm running v 7.0.98.0 and the problem still persists, but at this customer i thing there is something "in the air" that is causing the problem.
A colegue of mine is at the customer site. today and tommorow.
So if he find something i'll keep you posted.

Thanks Silver... we are looking at some sort of evnironmental interference at our site as well. Our vendor has been onsite and was unsuccessful in determining if there is interference issues.

Hi grh959,

it looks like my colegue has solved the problem. There are 2 things he changed.

1. He changed some retry option through the cli with the following command:

(Cisco Controller) config>advanced eap eapol-key-retries 4

2. He saw with some tool that on channel 6 there was a alarm sensor that was transmitting a signal continuously so he set in that specific area the ap's to channel 1 and 11.

Hope this helps for you as well.

Good luck

Silver I can confirm as well the version did not affect our situation. I also found changing the eapol-key-timeout to 2000ms instead of the default 1000ms helped as well. The issue being that the WPA handshake was taking longer than 1s on these clients (old handheld WinCE barcode scanners).
