Hello,
I am currently trying to use a cisco 877 up from an 827 DSL router. I have a problem with the 4 port switch being attached to my cisco 2924xl switch. I configured an ip for the vlan on the 877 and once its connected, I can ping the switch, but I can ping the 877 from my local machine. I am missing something in my config on either of my cisco devices. This is using a ppoe connection wiht Cyberonic as my ISP.

Thanks

did you assign an ip to the native vlan1? or did you create a new vlan? just make sure all the switchports that you are using are in the same vlan

Thanks, somehow that's working, now I'm trying to figure out how to make sure I'm connected to my ISP. THe CD light is lit on the router, but I can't seem to ping an address out on the Internet.

if you log into the 827... and do a sho ip int br.. hae you obtained an ip address from the isp?

Everything is connecting, but now I've noticed that my speed is lower than when the 827 is connected. When I run "show dsl int atm 0" my speed is at 2300-3000 on the 827, while its about 1500-1800 on the 877. I also noticed the DSL mode on the 827 is set to ITU G.992.1 (G.DMT). I could only get the ANSI setting to work on the 877, dsl operation-mode auto gets no connection for me. Anyone have an idea about what's going on.

maybe the dsl type is just reported differently...

I've been in contact with a Cisco engineer who thinks there might be an issue with the version of the IOS I have, so I'm in the process of updating. When I get a chance, I'll post my config. Perhaps I've got a mistake in it.

A new upgraded IOS solved the problem. Thanks to all who have posted about this issue.
