Hi everybody!

I have a customer who wants to use own coper lines (not more than 8km long) to connect small remote offices to branch office. I found that there are HDSL modems around which could be used for this purpose (for example Telindus is making them).
I'm wondering could I use Cisco 828 G.HDSL routers on the each side of the line to make connection?
Thanks in advance!

So are you saying the customer is leasing DSL lines (in this case business class DSL) and attempting to accomplish same as an ISDN type scenario? Regards,

Don

Either way, you could simply set up a PPPoE connection. This situation would apply to a DSL router with clients on the ethernet side and a DSL MODEM and DSLAM on the pulic side (external interface). It is actually very straight forward to configure. Config VPDN, then the ATM (DSL) interface, and finally the Dialer interface. If this is indeed what you want to attempt then I can post a sample config or if you prefer the real thing, supply the spec's. Regards,

Don

Thanks for ideas, Don!

Actually client is a big organization (railways) which has their own lines (they are not leasing, but are having just a pair of copper to remote sites). I just don't know would it work with Cisco 828, cause it would be like conecting them back to back. I read that there is DSL concentrator needed to connect DSL modems to network, but that would push prices to the heavens (on the other way Telindus says that just connect their HDSL modems over the copper pair and you have ethernet extension, looks like something like Cisco LRE, but with greater distances).

Best regards,
Reginald
