Hi,

I have a DSL at home that it work with a SpeedStream 5200 provide by my ISP. I want to change it for a Cisco 827. I had a lot of trouble to find the information about the config of my ISP. Finally I have the information that it needed. After some long evening of test, read end post on this forum I have a config to show. It is not working and it's for that reason that I need your help you expert.

I resume, my ISP work without pppoe. the pvc is 0/35, Encapsulation is ppp. It is a point-to-point connection. The outside IP address is in DHCP.

My IOS : 12.2(4)YA11
Model : Cisco 827

Then the show run :

It seems only TX, not RX. I play a lot with config, and at one time it TX and RX, but I never retreive the config ! I know, I'm not very good with router, is for that reason that I request your help

Thanks in advance.

Hello
Can you post a show dsl interface atm0?
Also you have to remove this command "ip access-group 101 out" not needed.
Will get back to you if I notice any thing else.

Hello
The modem has trained with the DSLAM,you have layer 3 problems.
Sorry in former post I forgot to tell you put these 2 commands under the respectove interfaces.

ip nat outside
ip nat inside

Regards
ps. also make sure that the service provider isn't using CHAP for authentication.

hi Minue,

What do you mean with "layer 3 problems" ? What can I do for fixe it ?

You wanf i put ip nat outide where exactly ? Under ATM0 ?

No, my provider don't use CHAP for authentication. It's only point-to-point link with PPP. I saw that the DSL Mode is good for my provider. It use G.DMT. The IP Address is in DHCP not fixe. I'm not sure for this config. And also the PVC, is at the good place or it should under ATM0.1. By the way do I need the ATM0.1 ?

Thanks

The ip address negotiated and the fact that it is PPPoE means that authentication IS required (PAP/CHAP). Input these commands and get back to us.

Burt, You beat me to that by five minutes.... :)

Ok guys,

I talk again to my "inside contact" to my ISP. And he said that is not encapsulation PPP but encapsulation aal5snap. It change a little bit the config ! I will do my homework on this new config. If I need help, i'll let you know. If is it working I can post my config if you want ? If someone have a start or hint for me it's welcome.

Thanks

Hello
I think they could have created a misunderstading.I would advice you to follow the config in the below link and there's a 99% chance that your router will be up and running. Please don't worry about the encapsulation aal5snap for now.
We use this protocol for business customers, obviously no need to authenticate with CHAP.Strange that your ISP doesn't authenticate you.

Regards

Minue---aal5snap is usually PPPoA. That link looks old. I doubt he needs a vpdn group in an 827, as the ATM is built-in. I have a not-so-old WIC-1ADSL, and I don't use a vpdn group...
The IOS versions on that page are 12.1

Burt
