Help!

I connect my cisco 7937 to the ethernet cable and the phone flashes on for a few seconds and then the lights go off. This sequence is happening all the time, I do not get to the end of the process.

I am unable to do a factory reset, tried Globe **1 when the phone is on for a few seconds.

Any ideas, I am not using an external power feed.

Make sure you are plugging it into a a true PoE switch like a Cat3560 not an older InlinePower switch like a 3524. I've seen this happen on the newer phones. They don't accept Cisco power, only the standards based power.

Got a feeling it maybe a power issue so have ordered a PSU for the phone. Will find out if it worked in the next few days.

It was the power issue, had to order a PSU for the phone. It was strange as we had 7940s on the same port which worked.

7940 will work in an 'Inline Power' switch but a newer phone requires a PoE switch. I've never seen a 7937 work WITHOUT a PSU.
