I have a home network connected to the internet thru a Cisco 776 ISDN router. It has worked fine for years, but a couple of weeks ago I was tried to hook up a wireless extenstion using a pair of Buffalo 802.11g units.
I was having trouble getting the 776 to server up DHCP IP addresses. I must have issued a bad command to the 776 (I don't at this point know which one) because later I discovered that the 776 would no longer to make connections to my ISP. Its not that it can't because if I do a manual call command it connects fine. It just wont do it on its own, and even if I do it manually, computers on the LAN still cant connect to the internet.

The only command I remember entering is the
"SEt GAteway <ip>"
command (not the "set dhcp gateway <ip>").
I gave the IP address of the router on the LAN in this commmand.

After discovering the problem I have tried several things including doing a SWL with an old saved configuration and also a "Set default" followed by uploading the old configuration.

The problem only affects data connections. The telephone ports still work fine.
