Hey Guys,

I am having an issue with our 6509. We have a WS-X6704-10GE card in there that is not powering up. Looking for some direction on where to look. I did see %C6KPWR-SP-4-UNSUPPORTED: unsupported module in slot 9, power not allowed: Unsupported baseboard/earl combination. showing in the syslog. We also know about the one power module and will be getting to the DC to replace shortly, but not sure if that would be the issue as there is still enough power available to support the card. Outputs from console are below:

Did the card not come back after a reboot?

I'd be thinking of the memory issue that many Cisco devices suffered from (Card would continue working but never return from a power down) Many 6500 linecards were vulnerable to this issue

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

I honestly don't think this one was working after being in storage. We recently put this chassis/config into production at a new DC location. The 10GE module wasn't used then so didn't really look harder at it, we are now needing to put it into service along with a couple more.

I wasn't aware of the memory issues. Any way to resolve or do we need to scrap it and get replacements?

As far as I can recall cisco are honouring non contract replacements.

We had or have advance replacements at hand but we had major problems on a relocation project. Lost 3 supervisors and a bunch of line cards
