Hello,

I have a Cisco 4506 with 2 Uplink Ports.

I already have Uplink port # 1 in use. I would like to add a second floor 4506 switch to my existing infrastructure. Can I add a GBIC in Uplink port 2 and run a fiber cable to the second floor, then plug in to GBIC port # 2 on first floor switch. I did not setup the first switch, so I'm new to these 4506 switches.

Thanks,

Mike

Yes you can. If you did not setup these switches though, you should inspect the configuration to make sure it is configured properly to handle this network change.

while you at it, you'll need to make sure that this new addition wont mess w/ your vlans (trunking), and your STP configuration ..
