Hi Experts,
I am trying to find out the number of ports in use on a particular Cisco 4500 switch, can you please tell me how i can go about doing this? I also want to know the number of slots in use.
Thanks in advance

type in (show ip int brief) this will tell you if the port is up and up or admin down.

There are other ways but this is quick and easy.

show interface status can be used on this and any other switch. It will tell you the type of the port, description (if there is one) on the port, mode of operation (Layer 2/3), speed duplex, etc.
