router a good starter router. i want to put it in my high speed cable line. its selling for $275 on ebay. I want to learn how to program routers etc etc.. the router sims don't have all feature. so i figure might as well buy one. thanks.

thats an expensive router for just the cable connection. I would be very surprised if it closes at that low of a price unless non of the cards are there. You need two ethernet cards or the 6 port card. I dont remember off hand if there was a 2 port version. The nice thing is you can put a 4 port serial card in it for a good frame switch sim.. btu the card is 350-400 on a good day. The 1 port ether runs about 90-150. There is a Fastethernet card for it but I dont remember if the 4000 can run it.. I know the 4500s can but it's around 700-900 for the card.

You might want to look at a 2514 or a 1605. Both are much quieter and cheaper to feed.
