My company has two Cisco 3660 routers with the same IOS 12.1(5)T one of them supports VLANs and the other doesnt seem to recorgnise any VLAN commands i really do not know what to do

I copied the IOS from the router which supports VLANS into the one which doesnt since both have the same version of IOS nothing chnged on the second router which doesnt sopport vlans

Please i need help on this as soon as posible
Thanks

While it might be the same software level, it probably has different features.. Meaning one might have the enterprise software, while the other might just have IP software.

What modules are installed in each chassis? Can you post a show ver from each one?

One probably has the 4 or 8 or 16 port hwic switch cards in them which would then allow you to create vlans . As long as you have at least ip plus IOS you can still do intervlan routing via a trunk link to a l2 switch where you could then break it out . Look at the back of the one that supports vlans and the one that does not , see if the one that supports it looks like it has a 4,8 or 16 port hwic card installed .

This is what the result of the sh version command

I dont have access to the other router sine its not in my building its going to take alot of time to get to it

My guess is the one you showed here does not allow vlan creation , don't see any hwic switch cards. Bet the other one has them .
