I am trying to install ips on a Cisco 3640 router that does not contain the additional ids module. I have upgraded the memory and flash to 128 / 32. I am running c3640-ik9o3s-mz.124-25.bin. When I try to install the IOS IPS signature package I don't have enough space in flash for the signature files. If I try to install them to the 16 Mg pcmcia card I am unable to make the directory in which to expand the files. Only one signature is unpacked.

Any ideas that I might try?

You can always load them from an external source. I will have to check tomorrow what protocols (FTP, HTTP, TFTP, etc.). I think it is HTTP...

tim@tim-laptop ~ $ sudo apt-get install windows
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package windows...Thank Goodness!

An update: I was able to install the ios that has the ids signatures embedded in them on the pcmcia card and it did install some signatures in flash. The version is S42. Has anyone had any luck in updating the signature files on the 3640 router?
